Things to do and see.

 

We have chosen some of the local attractions to share with you. There are so many more but these are a selection of our tried and tested favourites.

You will find flyers and details of all these in The Snug when you arrive at Pen ar Voas including directions  and other local places of interest.

Beaches

St Efflam/St Michelle en Greve - just 2km away are vast sandy beaches with play areas and a kite surfing school. The coast line is scattered with bars and restaurants.

Loquirec - A small town with a sandy beach surrounded by several good restaurants - a very popular local eating place only 10 minutes away from Pen ar Voas.

Beg Leguer - A huge sandy beach with designated safe bathing area,public toilets and a bar/restaurant. Approximately 20 minutes away from Pen ar Voas.

Perros Guirec - A 30 minute journey from Pen ar Voas, Perros has a large marina which is lined with bars and restaurants and a boating lake for children. The town itself is a lively evening venue.

Trestraou - next to Perros guirec featuring a large sandy beach, many restaurants and bars, a lively evening market in summer and even a small casino!

Tregastel - There are several beaches here and all are sandy with massive granite rock formations. There are safe swimming areas, public toilets, bars, restaurants, coastal walks and an aquarium which is suitable for children under 12years.

 

Walks and cycle trails

Markets

MondayGuerlesquin – Approx 15 mins away from Pen ar Voas. A traditional French market with Breton ladies dancing and donkey rides for the children.

Wednesday morningLocquirec  - A smaller market in the Port area of the town, including fresh sea food, 10 minutes away from Pen ar Voas.

ThursdayLannion. In the car park in the centre of the town and up into the towns traditional back streets, by far the biggest of our local markets. Approximately 15 minutes away.

Friday EveningsTregastel from 4pm to 8pm a local farmers / craft market in July and August only. Approximately 30 minutes from Pen ar Voas.

Sunday Plestin les Greves. Running along the main street and down into the market place, local produce alongside usual market fayre.

On Tuesday evenings there is an evening market in Plestin during July and August. This starts at 6pm and provides lots of ready to eat food and craft stalls, all bars and restaurants are open in the town and there is usually a local band playing in front of the church.

 

Activities

There are many marked walks and mountain bike (VTT - velo tout terrain) trails in the area. Several passing the entrance of Pen ar Voas.

These vary from gentle walks of 2km, including the nearby Grand Rocher with a short but steep ascent to panoramic views of the bay of St Michel and St Efflam. There are also more demanding and much longer hikes taking in local places of interest such as all the historic Chapels.

There are also a number of coastal path walks, including a flat circular tour of Ile Grande with its sandy beaches, sea birds and harbours suitable for all ages, just 20 mins from Pen ar Voas.

The Bretons are passionate cyclists and there are many local roads ideal for road bikes with very light traffic and good surfaces - look out for the local club pelotons out on their Sunday and Wednesday morning rides.

Bowling and Laser games - L'eclipse at Lannion. Offers available on games and meal deals.

Celtic paintballing - for persons over 12yrs. Just 15 mins away close to Lannion.

The Village Gaulois - family open air activity park, 25minutes from Pen ar Voas.

Cidrerie de Cozmezou & Cidre a L'ancienne two local cider producers with visits, activities and local produce. Both within 10 minutes of Pen ar Voas.

Forum De Tregastel - salt water swimming pool, beauty spa and gym. 30 minutes away.

Chateaux  Rosanbo - One of the many local Chateaux and gardens to visit in the local area.

Le village Breton - A living museum of all aspects of Breton life, Just 15 minutes away.

Water sports - Several sailing and Kite surfing schools along the nearby coasts.
